May 6, 2008 - Plateau

These pictures of Mack were taken in March.
Mack has seemed to hit a plateau in his recovery progress over the past three months. He isn't talking as much as he was last fall and he doesn't want to move his legs and left arm as much as he used to. He has also put on quite a bit of weight in the past 6 months, although he doesn't eat that much. It's probably due to the continued tube feedings he is getting at night. Needless to say, because of the tube feedings, he doesn't have much of an appetite during the day until the evening, when he eats most of his dinner.
Richard and I celebrated Mack's 28th birtthday with him on Sunday, March 9th, although his birthday was on Wednesday, March 12th.
Dr. G has mentioned to Richard the possibility of doing surgery on Mack's legs to release the tendons and get him rehabilitated so that he can transfer himself from the bed to his chair and also to the bathroom when he needs to go. If he does have surgery, he may be able to go back to Health South for his rehabilitation and transfer training.
That's all the news for now.
Please keep Mack in your prayers,
Ruth & Richard
