Merry Christmas 2008

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Everyone!

On November 5, we moved Mack to the new nursing home in Dinwiddie, VA, near Pamplin Park. Mack was their first male patient in residence so he got lots of attention from the entire staff. Needless to say, he ate it up. All in all, Mack is much happier because we can visit him nearly every day. He has adjusted to the transition very well and is talking much more than he did in Farmville.

The Dinwiddie Health and Rehab Center had a family Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Mack was allowed to invite two family members to join him for dinner. He wanted me and Richard to be there. The admin staff took care of serving everyone, which was quite impressive. Then, on Thursday, Richard picked Mack up from the nursing home to take him to the Gourmet Briar Patch Tea Room for our Thanksgiving dinner together with Mawmaw. This was the first time that Mack has been in a regular restaurant since his accident. Judging by the smile on his face, he really enjoyed his Thanksgiving dinner and the conversation he had with Ginger Moyer.

Richard brought Mack home again early on Christmas Eve and again on Christmas Day, to spend the holidays at home with us and the family as much as possible. Kristen and Brian also came to visit him here on Christmas Day. As you can see from the attached picture below that he was very happy to see them and spend time with them.

Yesterday Richard took Mack to Hooters and asked Brian and Kristen to join them. That was one of Mack's Christmas wishes of his Dad -to go to Hooters. An old friend and co-worker from Builder's Supply named Tabitha was one of the Hooter girls. She's on the left in the picture below. She gave him several hugs and kisses when she saw him, which made his day.

Here's wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
