Happy New Year - 2010 (A new decade begins)

Richard brought Mack home for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day again this year. With all the excitement and people around him, it seems that he was worn out a bit earlier than usual (around 8 pm) on Christmas Eve. Richard took Mack back to the nursing home in Dinwiddie around 10 p.m. Then, on Christmas Day, Richard brought Mack back home around 1:30 p.m. for Christmas dinner. He was a bit more rested and looked like he enjoyed being at home with Richard, me and Mawmaw having dinner. Kristen and Bryan came by to visit and hang out with Mack for a while, bringing him a new calendar for his room for Christmas. His smile says that Mack was very happy to see them.

Jenny, Daniel and the kids came by to visit Mack in the nursing home on Sunday, Dec. 27 and brought him a nice collection of toiletries, which he needed, and some candy. On behalf of Mack, thank you Jenny, Daniel and both nephews.

Mack has been moved, yet again, to another room #203 (back near his original room, but, across the hall). They needed a male patient on that side, so he was moved into a larger room, but doesn't have a room mate yet.

Our family ended 2009 with much sadness. Richard lost his aunt Elsie Trent to cancer on Dec. 18; then, I suddenly lost a very good friend and coworker on Dec. 22 and then, my cousin, Ivan, who lived in Milton, Florida, passed away on New Years Day morning around 4:20 a.m.

We wish everyone a very healthy and prosperous Happy New Year! We hope that 2010 is better than 2009 was for most of us.

Best regards,

Ruth & Richard
